For your convenience, I have included it in this blog. You can watch it below.
First, let’s get a basic foundation of understanding about our gut health.
Your gut is full of trillions of bacteria. Some good and some bad.
The good ones are extremely important for your immune system, heart, weight, and even emotionally. And the bad ones, are just the opposite.
Point blank, our gut microbiome is vital to how we feel physically and even emotionally.
3 Food Categories to Avoid for Good Gut Health
*Beverages
This includes alcohol, carbonated beverages, and sugary drinks.
Within sugary drinks, be sure to avoid artificial sweeteners such as stevia, aspartame, sucralose, saccharin, and acesulfame.
I encourage you to substitute the above beverages with flavored water. I have found lemon in my water as well as cucumbers and mint to be very enjoyable.
It may take a bit to completely avoid them, so be kind to yourself.
*Dairy Products
This category includes milk, cheeses, and ice creams.
I know, some of the favorite things right.
You can find dairy free items. Health food stores are a great place to find items that you can substitute and still indulge.
*Junk Foods
I know, darn it. This includes fast foods, potato chips, sugary cereals, and candy.
Again, I encourage you to find healthy alternatives. You can look at this as a new adventure of trying new items from the store.
Avoiding certain foods is important to improving your gut health.
If these foods are part of your normal diet, start eliminating them. Pick one category. Remove the items from your refrigerator and pantry. And don’t buy them again.
Healing a gut takes time. It can take 3-4 weeks to 3-4 months. At times, it can be a painful process to eliminate foods.
But I promise you, your gut and gut health will thank you and you will start feeling better.
